Acne: Most Common Skin Disorder in Women

Now who among us don’t wish a good, firm, smooth, and healthy skin. I’d walk miles barefoot if it helped me get good skin. The stress, pollution, sunrays, junk food, air we breathe in, water we drink, every second that passes by, all this affects the skin. Not just the skin on our face, but can also affect the hands and feet skin. Ever notice them getting rougher in winter or otherwise? Facial skin problems and skin problems on other areas of the body can occur because of age too. From a wide range of skin problems, acne is the one that almost every woman has endured in her life at least once. Be it just one pimple or a whole cheek full of it. So today let’s take a look at acne, what causes it, what it does and why.

One of the most common facial skin problems for adolescents is acne, a troubling skin condition that can affect confidence and self-esteem. So along with your usual teenage problems at puberty, this is also one of the things that you’d need to care about. As sebaceous glands become overactive and produce excess oil, follicles become plugged, resulting in blackheads and whiteheads. Sebum (oil) is a natural substance that lubricates and protects the skin. Associated with increased oil production is a change in the manner in which the skin cells mature, predisposing them to plug the follicular pore. The plug can appear as a whitehead if it is covered by a thin layer of skin, or if exposed to the air, the darker exposed portion of the plug is called a blackhead. The plugged hair follicle gradually enlarges, producing a bump. As the follicle enlarges, the wall may rupture, allowing irritating substances and normal skin bacteria access into the deeper layers of the skin, ultimately producing inflammation. Inflammation near the skin's surface produces a pustule; deeper inflammation results in a pimple; if the inflammation is deeper still, it forms a cyst.
Although acne is not harmful to health and will usually go away after time, moderate to severe acne can leave scars. But if you think the situation has worsened, then you need to see the dermatologist about the best skin disorder treatment.
